Emoji Meaning

Tokyo Tower emoji is often confused with the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and there is a good reason for that. Being one of the tallest buildings in Tokyo, it was inspired by the famous French tower back in 1957. Nowadays it provides technical communication and serves a tourist attraction in Japan.

The symbol “Tokyo Tower” is included in the “Cultural symbols” subblock of the “Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs” block and was approved as part of Unicode version 6.0 in 2010. In 2015, it was also approved as an Emoji in version 1.0 and added to the “Building” subcategory of the “Travel & Places” category.
