Nko Alphabet

Description

Nko is a writing system for the Mande language, which is common in West Africa. In this language, NkO means “I speak.” or “I'm speaking.” The type of writing is consonant-vocal. All vowels are visible. The letters are written from right to left.

The Nko alphabet was created by Solomon Kante in 1949. Now it is used mainly in Guinea and Ivory Coast.
